Screen Producers Australia (SPA) has named Foxtel head of scripted originals Lana Greenhalgh as Commissioner of the Year ahead of this month’s 23rd Annual SPA Awards at The Star Gold Coast.
Greenhalgh joined Foxtel in 2015 as a scripted production coordinator after leaving a career in the talent management industry to pursue her passion for television drama.
After working across Foxtel’s scripted production and development slate, including Wentworth, A Place To Call Home, Picnic At Hanging Rock, Australia Day, Secret City: Under the Eagle, Lambs of God, The End, and Upright, she was promoted to head of scripted originals in 2023, where she works on the procurement, development, and production of all Foxtel Group scripted commissions.
As an executive producer, she oversaw production on both seasons of Binge Original series, Love Me and season two of Foxtel Series Upright, and worked across Foxtel Group Originals, Strife (S1 and 2), The Twelve (S1 and 2), Colin From Accounts (S1 and 2), The Last Anniversary, Mix Tape and High Country.
Greenhalgh said she was honoured and humbled to receive the award, designed to acknowledge an Australian commissioner whose accomplishments over a recent period demonstrate success in creativity, leadership, and inclusive thinking.
“I take pride in championing premium Australian storytelling, and I am excited to continue to push creative boundaries to put Australian stories on the global stage,” she said.
“Being recognised for my contribution and impact by an industry and peer group I admire so much is truly special.”
The 23rd SPA Awards will take place on Thursday, May 8, on the final night of Screen Forever. Find the full list of nominees here.
